Amber King - Project 4

Project 4 (html | swf | fla)

What was your favorite tweening type? What did you enjoy most in this module?
I like the simplicity of the motion tween. It seemed to 'just work' for me. Working with the motion editor was very fun once I got the hang of what it was for.

What challenges did you have using the various tweening tools?
The hardest thing for me was getting the motion path to work. Fortunately, google is a good friend of mine and helped me .

Did you use onion skinning to assist with your frame-by-frame animation? How did you feel it assisted you?
Oh yes. I used the heck out if it. The animation still ended up looking very sketchy but that was more by design than by accident. Being able to see where the last few frames were at a glance was pretty much essential to making the walk cycle.

Which symbol did you use in the nested animation? What challenges did you have creating it?
I made a walk cycle for the alien bug. The biggest challenges were figuring out how many frames to use, trying to use more than just the legs/feet, and the fact that the legs aren't separate from the body (should have thought of that ahead of time). Pacing the movement with the walk cycle to make it look believable was also challenging.

What easing did you use for your motion tween?
I used a couple of different custom easings I made to speed up and slow down the animation where I needed it to be so that the moon and stars would move in a more believable fashion.

What filters or blend modes did you use? Please identify the tween that you applied these modification.
I had the alpha change over time for the stars and the moon so that it would look like morning was coming when the sky changed.

Did you have any issues using the 3-D tool to create your animation?
It was more difficult figuring out where to put it than using it at all since the whole thing's rather two dimensional to begin with. I like how subtle it is though.

Please share anything else regarding your experience.
I learned that it's important to think ahead to what you will be doing with something when you make it. Making the legs attached to the body of the alien was a big mistake that made that part a lot more complicated than it had to be.
